The regional stage of the “World Scholar's Cup” international competition turned out to be a real success, showing huge interest from the students. The event took place on May 20, 2023 and was hosted by Heritage, bringing together 240 students from many schools in our country. Each of them got involved, proving their skills in the four challenges: team debate, team writing, general knowledge test and “Scholar's Bowl” (Q&A session).
Robert Ford, Heritage Director & CEO: “We had the incredible privilege of welcoming schools from all over Moldova to Heritage for WSC last month. Now we wish our successful students on their way to London for the next round, the best of luck, as they fly the flag of Heritage Moldova in this prestigious intellectual global education competition. We are delighted and proud of our amazing Heritage students.”
Heritage students achieved some impressive results – 28 finalist teams qualified for the opportunity to participate in the Global Rounds.
Tatiana Popa, Deputy Academic Director: “World Scholar's Cup is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to show their talents and shine when competing with their peers from other schools and countries. It helps them get into the team spirit, think critically and work collaboratively. They get more motivated to learn about the world together with the world. We are looking forward to their performance in London this summer as well!”
Miriam Haruta, student: “The World Scholar's Cup is an amazing event with lots of different and interesting activities, it was overall a very fun experience and I had a great time participating.”
It is anticipated that the Global Rounds will bring together around 10,000 students from over 50 countries, which this year will take place in:
Sabina, student: “I remember the exact moment and the exact feelings that overwhelmed me when I was called on the stage to receive the prize for the first place in the Writing Challenge. I will never forget how all my friends rushed to hug me for bringing this victory. WSC is truly a remarkable opportunity which I would recommend to anyone.”
Sofia Victoria Țurcanu, student: “The World Scholar's Cup was a wonderful competition from start to finish. The organizers managed to make every part of it enjoyable and I am glad I participated.”
The best part is that everyone had fun, and besides the awarded finalist students, the other participants have also won various prizes or medals and gained an unforgettable experience.
