Heritage hosts the “World Scholar’s Cup” 2024 and invites students of all schools in Moldova to participate

05 March 2024

The regional stage of the “World Scholar's Cup” international competition will soon take place in Chisinau, so all students from Moldova are invited to sign up to be able to show their skills in the 4 challenges. Heritage International School will host this competition for the fourth time and waits for those who speak English, have teamwork skills, have critical thinking, are agile and full of creativity to participate.

The competition will take place on March 30, 2024 and all schools in the country are welcome to register several teams of 3 students each, in the three age categories: 8-10 years, 10-13 years, 14+ years. In addition to a very valuable experience, all participants will also receive a plush alpaca, which is the symbol of the contest.

Tatiana Popa, Deputy Academic Director, Heritage International School: “World Scholar's Cup is the perfect platform for our young global citizens to showcase their debating, creative writing, and teamwork skills in each of the competition's challenges. This global competition allows them to express themselves, studying topics from various fields and then showing their intelligence, especially under the limited time pressure. An opportunity to discover cultures and make friends from all schools in Moldova, but also from all continents. It is very important for students to expose themselves and get out of their comfort zone because it is an unforgettable experience and they gain much needed collaboration skills for life. This is a modern, interesting contest that makes them grow intellectually and culturally!”

The “World Scholar's Cup” will be held in English and the theme of this edition is “Reimagining the Present”, including the following challenges: team debate, team writing, general knowledge test and the main event – “Scholar's Bowl”. Finalists who qualify for the Global Round will be able to compete with representatives from other countries at the final stage of the competition from July 12-17 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Teams of 3 students can register until March 7 by accessing the “registration form” button on this link: https://www.scholarscup.org/calendar/1331-chisinau-round/.

The “World Scholar's Cup” is held annually in more than 50 countries (except during the pandemic, when the competition was suspended). In the Republic of Moldova, the famous competition was hosted in 2018, 2019 and 2023 by the Heritage International School, the only Cambridge School in Moldova, bringing together hundreds of students and teachers from numerous schools in the country. The winners of the Chisinau rounds later participated in the Global Rounds, bringing gold and silver medals.
