A different school in the Republic of Moldova. What you didn’t know about Heritage International School

01 September 2018

For many parents, happiness means a secure and healthy development environment for their kids. In such an environment are learning the students of Heritage International School, that focuses on developing skills, equal education and healthy activities.

In the previous article, we’ve told you about the unique opportunities offered by Heritage for education and studies. This time, we invite you to find out how inclusive and secure the school is.

Inclusive education starts right from school entrance

Heritage International School supports inclusion. It is demonstrated by the multitude of facilities for children with locomotor deficiencies and special educational needs (cognitive and behavioral disorders) studying there.

In front of the institution there is a “No parking” sign, so that students with reduced mobility or those in wheelchairs can move easily. Moreover, the entrance to the school was equipped with a functional access ramp, according to international standards. The wide doors, the large lifts, the adapted WCs on each floor, are other facilities for children with disabilities.

Teachers are sufficiently prepared to meet the needs of these children and cultivate tolerance, non-discrimination and respect among children.

One of the few institutions that prioritize student safety

Child safety is a priority for the Heritage administration. Access to school territory is restricted, allowed only with the acceptance of security officers, employees of the institution. In addition, the school is equipped with video surveillance cameras. If necessary, parents can ask the administration to watch the recordings.

Students are taken home only by parents or persons authorized in advance. This is why the parent includes in the admission form the information and photo of the person authorized to pick up the child from school.

Teachers receptive to students' needs

Heritage International School also emphasizes the improvement of behavior and attitudes of students and teachers. That's why the school has developed a Code of Ethics for all those in the institution.

Academic staff prove professionalism, impartiality, fairness and responsiveness to students' needs. At the same time, students are motivated to be tolerant, respectful of teachers and other colleagues, and to express freely their opinions.

The institution has also developed the Child Protection Policy, which also stipulates that students and academics are trained on the Road Traffic Code, forms of violence against children, medical first aid, emergency interventions, etc.

No case of food poisoning or abdominal pain

School food is cooked only in the school canteen. The menu, approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, contains only oven-cooked dishes, a wide variety of culinary products, fresh vegetables and fruits every day, as well as healthy snacks.

Parents are the ones who decide what food they would like to find in the students' menu, according to the preferences and needs of the children. Only at Heritage, the administration sends parents the information about the dishes in the menu before setting up together what the students will eat.

At the cafeteria, kids can enjoy healthy snacks. The products delivered by a catering company are thoroughly checked by those who receive the products. The visits made by the inspectors of the Chisinau Public Health Center confirmed that the menu approved by the institution fully respects the model menu proposed by CSP Chisinau.

Children with special dietary needs, including allergies, have an appropriate menu. The chef knows the situation of each child, according to what the parent mentioned in the admission form. In these cases, the menu is set up by the parent and the chef.

Birthday celebrations in the school are allowed, provided parents do not bring food and pastries prepared at home or out of school where quality cannot be guaranteed. They can arrange with the cafeteria.

As a result of the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and strict safety rules in the institution, no food poisoning was recorded in the previous year.
Heritage medical staff checks the hygiene throughout school and monitors the health of students and school staff throughout the day, always being on guard to intervene in case of emergency.

If you made decided to enroll your child at the Heritage International School, we congratulate you for a wise choice!
