On the last day of the school year, learners, parents and teachers of the Heritage International School "visited" and "tasted" the culture of 10 countries from different continents. On May 31, 2018, the International Day, organized by the entire Heritage community, took place at the school.
The participants (Primary and Gymnasyum students supported by teachers and parents) hqd formed 10 groups and each of them had the "homework assignment" to represent one of the countries: Brazil, Chile, Egypt, USA, Mexico, Italy, Great Britain, Kenya, Japan or Australia.
The children have thoroughly documented the culture and specifics of the chosen country, discussed and exchanged information during lessons, then, at their extracurricular clubs, they have crafted traditional objects, learned dances and songs from the studied geographic regions.
After months of preparation, the representatives of the 10 nations opened their doors for "travelers" - on the last school day in Heritage, stands were assembled for each country. The participants - children, parents and teachers - received a "passport" with 10 "visas", which gave them the right to visit the countries, to find curious information and to watch representative pictures, to enjoy a cultural show and admire the national costumes, but also to taste the traditional dishes of each state.
Bogdanka Adamu, Director, International Heritage School: "The first international school established in Moldova had the goal to complete the study year in a unique and very representative way for us. Multiculturalism is part of the identity of the school and this way we raise tolerant, open-minded and global thinkers. I am happy that the event was a success due to the involvement of each member of the Heritage community: the pedagogical team, the parents, the administrative and support staff, but first of all - our extraordinary students."
The event was carried out in a spirit of responsibility, in respect to the policies adopted by Heritage - separate waste sorting, use of green materials and recycling. Moreover, although "passports" for attending the event were offered free of charge, visitors enthusiastic about the experiences of the International Day could make voluntary donations. The funds collected will be used for activities in the "Go Heritage" complex social responsibility program.
