The passion for reading opens new horizons, helps children make new friends and become known! The best readers of Heritage International School achieved amazing results at an international competition for Romanian language and literature, held in the city of Debrecen, Hungary. At the 16th edition of the "Lecturiada Publică pentru Juniori şi Seniori", our students competed with 123 peers from different countries and showed extraordinary knowledge. This year the competition was based on "Castelul fetei în alb", the second volume of the series "
Cireşarii" by
Constantin Chiriţă – novels for young readers.
Guided by their Romanian language and literature teacher Viorica Railean, Heritage students showed their knowledge and obtained important results in both individual and group tests. Their passion for Romanian language and literature helped them win important titles in the competition. Our students were awarded several prizes, including: the 2nd place in the "Best reader of the project" contest, the 3rd place in the "Best speaker of the project" contest, the 1st and 2nd places in the “Literary Calendar”, "Literary Quiz” and other categories.
Besides the competition, the program of the camp within which the competition was held, included a series of visits to cultural and leisure places. The students had the opportunity to find out more curious information by participating in the experiments conducted at the "Agora" science centre. The excursions through the cities of Debrecen, Budapest, Iasi (Romania), and they were especially impressed by the ride on the Danube river. At the Nyiregyhaza Zoo, the young people were able to admire several exotic animals from all continents, and the visit ended with great fun at the "Aquaticum" water park.
Through such international competitions, our learners have the opportunity to discover the cultures of other countries, but also learn about educational innovations, make new friends and meet people who share the same passions. Thanks to reading, young people form their social skills, develop their imagination and critical spirit.
