The “Return to School” pledge of the Heritage Community
01 September 2020
"On behalf of our Heritage International School community, I make this pledge to ensure my school community can return for the academic year in a safe and responsible way.
I will respect the simple but effective measures around hands, face and space, that if we all practice then our school will be a safe learning and working environment to return to for the new academic year. I will wear a clean mask, I will wash my hands regularly and I will maintain a safe physical distance at all times. We need to follow these new instructions as a community.
It is all of our responsibility and duty to follow the simple measures and if one person doesn’t then that puts at risk our ability to have a safe school environment. We need all of our community to recognise this fact, students, staff, families and visitors. We need to make this work 100% by complying 100%. There is no room for ego or selfishness or ignorance in this “next normal”.
If someone is not following these measures, then we need to remind them. Our school campus needs to be safe at all times.
We don’t know how long this will continue around the world, but I can do my part, in my community, to ensure education beats covid19.
Returning to safe physical school is important for all of us and we understand that if our society is easing lockdown then we cannot immediately go back to all the things we did before March. These are small steps and we need to exercise caution, judgement and think of others always in this, especially the key workers who are making it possible for more normality to return.
I will also play my part in the wider society so we model to others what we need to do to beat COVID-19 and reduce the risk of infection,. I will make sure I do not take unnecessary risks and continue to practice hands, mask and face, outside of school at all times.
We are hopeful for our futures and how we can work together as a community in these difficult times. The importance of physical school, each other and education means so much more now because we know what it is like to not have these vital things in our lives this year in the way we did before and took for granted.
I pledge to work to make our school return successful, safe and a model for others to be inspired from.
